Founded by the SHORTER family, who also owned A.J. WILKINSON - ROYAL STAFFORDSHIRE nearby, producing mostly Hotelware, Tableware, and Utilitarian Ceramics; Re-purposed the premises as a Decorating Studio in 1927; One of the most notable designers, CLARICE CLIFF, worked at this location ca 1938 - 1940s [see entry]; The factory was demolished around 1945 and operations continued at other facilities the family owned, incl. design work by Clarice Cliff, until its acquisition by W.R. MIDWINTER in 1964
