Description

A militia shoulderbelt plateprobably New Jersey, circa 1855-75
Rolled brass with applied, die-struck bust, thought to be Brigadier General William Joyce Sewell of New Jersey, a Medal of Honor recipient and commander of the 5th New Jersey Volunteers. Reverse with soldered loops (two missing). Illustrated as Plate 768, A.M.B.P.
