      19th century U.S. sword, blade marked "G.W. Simmons & Co.", for staff or field infantry officer, hinged guard, gilt bronze mounts, ornate insignia with eagles, original shagreen grips, blade with extensive engraving, late 19th century, 30-3/4 in. blade, 37-1/4 in. overall. Bronze mounts with traces of original gilding, excellent condition.
