Jules Cheret (French, 1836-1932) "Saxoleine", color lithographic poster, 49" x 34-1/2". Unframed. From 1891 until 1900, Jules Cheret designed a series of posters for Saxoleine, a lamp oil company. The series is considered to be one of the first modern advertising campaigns.
