An American militia officer's or NCO swordcirca 1840-60
Straight, unmarked 25 1/4 inch double edged blade of oval section. Silver-plated brass crossguard with shield-shaped languets and flared quillons with simple borders around recessed, stippled panels. Reeded bone grip. Silver-plated brass helmet-form pommel. Black leather scabbard with silver-plated brass throat and chape.
