FRENCH EMPIRE MARBLE-TOP MAHOGANY CONSOLE, early 19th century, with gilt-metal mounts. Rectangular grey marble slab over figured veneer frieze; columnar supports; on concave shaped-plinth base - 31 in. x 48 1/4 in. x 19 in.

Provenance: Josephine Bonaparte, Château de Malmaison, acquired by Stephen Van Rensselaer III (1765-1839).
