      A Qajar lacquered papier mache pencase (Qalamdan), signed Abu Talib al-Mudarris, Qajar Iran, dated AH 1272/1855-56 AD, the painted decoration arranged as a lattice of gilt wavy lines on black ground, the reverse with identical pattern running across red cusped medallions with gilt borders, signed on top, 21cm long.
